He has been involved in Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act engagements across a wide range of industries, including retail, manufacturing, cosmetics, hydro-electric, not-for-profit, and construction. Martin is often called upon to work directly with the Canada Revenue Agency to help clients avoid bankruptcy and negotiate a reduction in their tax debts.

Select client experience

Martin’s bankruptcy, insolvency, and restructuring experience includes:

  • acting as a court-appointed receiver for the marketing and sale of a hydro-electric power plant
  • acting as Licensed Insolvency Trustee for proposals for a multi-location retailer by successfully negotiating removal of government liens and restructuring the significant personal debt of the principals of the business
  • acting as a Licensed Insolvency Trustee for proposals negotiating for professionals ranging from doctors, dentists, accountants, and lawyers with the Canada Revenue Agency and other creditors
