The Agenda
We are proud to present the third annual Farber Executive Summit: Elevate + Impact. This year we will unpack how today’s high-calibre executive can create value and deliver extraordinary impact—on a personal, professional, and community level—to ensure continued career success.

As an executive, advancing one’s career can be likened to climbing a mountain; and, just as one peak is conquered, the next challenge appears in the distance requiring a refresh of your personal strategies and plans to elevate and deliver impact.
In this keynote address, Tony van Marken analyzes some of the most successful mountaineers and mountaineering expeditions—as well as some epic disasters along the way. Combined with his own personal business and expedition experience, from preparing the mindset and detailed planning, to ensuring one has the right tools for the task, to aligning yourself with the right support team, Tony will synthesize the lessons learned and how they can be applied both personally and in a business context.

In his book Transitions, William Bridges eloquently captures the process of change; Every transition begins with an ending and ends with a beginning. The middle space between endings and beginnings is an uncomfortable neutral zone that most of us would rather avoid, yet it’s essential for personal growth.
In this panel discussion, the psychology of personal transition will be addressed through the eyes of Barry Pokroy, a clinical psychologist and founder of Farber’s Circle & Square practice. We will also hear from Vito Rezza and Gordon Stein, two panelists who have not only persevered through transition, but have used this uncomfortable zone to transform, reinvent and elevate themselves.
Michael Kravshik, a co-founder of Luminari and podcaster extraordinaire, will lead the panel discussion.

The ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’ is transforming jobs and opportunities—so how are you future proofing yourself?
While it is necessary for leaders to work with technology, we’re also seeing a growing need to develop human competencies—such as leadership, empathy, creativity, collaboration, effective communication skills, critical thinking, resilience, agility and decision-making skills—in order to drive the next wave of growth and success within organizations.
In this session, we will focus on what organizations will be seeking in the next decade, and what you can do as a leader to make an impact and stand out. You’ll also learn how to identify your strengths and communicate them through your resume, executive bio, value proposition, and when you network.

What is your personal value proposition? How is your story received by others? Stories are at the core of the human experience. They bind us. It’s through storytelling that we enhance our value.
Learn the skills that capture attention and transform personal interactions into an authentic and memorable encounter.
This session will provide you with an understanding on how to create your story and harness the power of storytelling to boost your impact on others.

LinkedIn is the number one social network for building your professional brand and attracting new career opportunities.
In this session, you will learn how to elevate your digital presence and personal brand, so you can establish valuable connections and achieve your career goals. Key topics include:
- the anatomy of an “all-star” LinkedIn profile (all-star profiles receive 40 times more opportunities than ones that are missing key information)
- practical tips on how to make an impact on LinkedIn so you are top of mind for new opportunities
- strategies for reconnecting with people in your network who could lead the way to your next role
- recommendations for how to create new connections that will open the door to new opportunities

With years of executive leadership experience and a deep network under your belt, you now have the unique opportunity to give back by sitting on not-for-profit boards.
In this session, you will learn how you can refocus and use your expertise and wealth of experience to elevate your social responsibility and make an impact in the broader community.
You will gain insights on how to turn your track record of success into new opportunities—building stronger networks and even stronger communities.

You never know what interaction could lead to an opportunity. Whether you’re networking with someone over coffee, in an interview or are seated beside a senior executive, it’s important to ‘show up’ in an authentic and engaging way.
Perhaps you feel confident when speaking but don’t realize that you engage in habits that undermine your message or how your leadership and confidence is perceived by others.
This session will help participants unpack what they ‘know’ about themselves in order to re-frame their story and approach each interaction with increased credibility and leadership. We will provide a toolkit of skills that participants can draw on to not only understand the potential each interaction can have, but to harness that potential.
